How Do They Do It?

This entry is part 7 of 11 in the series Issue II: Fall 2009

by Allan Yashin

Still together…a testimony to their true love
A marriage like this… surely a gift from above.
Sixty years of bliss and still counting
All the blessings they’ve had rapidly amounting
To a staggering figure by anyone’s accounting.
They still hold hands as they walk slowly down the street
In a world of love making with each other they are complete.
Truly an envy to all their relatives and friends,
It warms one’s heart to witness a love that never ends.
How do they do it? What’s their secret? Are they as constantly devoted as it appears?
The answer is actually really quite simple.
He’s deaf and hasn’t heard a word she’s said in over twenty years.
