The Trap

They are the fortunate ones
from the time they are born,
who never experience the fierceness of the trap.

And for some, the trap comes down hard,
the kill is swift, perhaps mercifully.

And there are those that wiggle and change enough
to escape the piercing jaws of life
to become bigger and even magnificent.
