Join NY Writers Coalition for 10 Days of NYWC, ten days of events around New York City, including free readings, workshops, and much more!
The Writing Aloud Reading Series unites writers from the NYWC community with established and emerging writers. NYWC writers are presented as peers with award-winning authors, allowing once silenced stories to be heard by new audiences around New York City. 10 Days of NYWC brings two of these powerful readings your way:
- Monday, October 22 at 6:30 p.m. at the Museum of Contemporary African Diasporan Arts, 80 Hanson Place in Brooklyn.
Featuring paired performances by NYWC workshop leaders Barbara Cassidy, Patrick Mathieu, Kimberly Shelby-Szyszko, Cait Weiss, and Shaina Feinberg, who will all read alongside members of their workshops. Featured writing groups include Visions, 80 Arts, Emmanuel Baptist Church’s Prime Time, and the Brooklyn Public Library’s Coney Island branch. Our MC for the evening is MoCADA Executive Director James Bartlett. Click here for directions.
Hosted by NYWC Workshop Leader Derek Loosvelt, the Writing Aloud Reading Series continues at the historic Jefferson Market Library. Featuring readings from NYWC workshop leader Tory Meringoff, from our adult writing groups at the Creative Center, the Center for Independence of the Disabled, New York (CIDNY), College & Community Fellowship, and SAGE, and from Brooklyn-based author Jon Sands (pictured right).
