NY Writers Coalition is proud to present the 2014 Jean Stein Oral History Prize in honor of the writer, editor, and innovator in oral history’s narrative form. Entrants must create a 1-3 page portrait of a New Yorker who has impacted their lives – a friend, family member, community member, mentor, whomever you like!

Top submissions will be published by NYWC Press and compete for a cash prize: 1st Prize: $500, 2nd Prize: $250, and Honorable Mention: $50. All authors included in the anthology will receive two free copies of the publication and are invited to celebrate the book launch at an awards ceremony with Jean Stein and NYWC in May 2014.

Open to New York City residents age 13 and older. There is no cost to enter, and NYWC will offer free workshops on interviewing skills, editing, and revision in January and February 2014.
