NY Writers Coalition’s Fort Greene Park Summer Youth Program is right around the corner!

Now in its tenth year, NYWC’s Fort Greene Park Summer Youth Program is a fun, six-week series of free Saturday creative writing workshops for youth in the New York City area. The workshops serve 6-12 year olds and teenagers in separate, dynamic and innovative writing groups designed to create a safe space for young writers to find their voices and explore all genres of creative writing. On the seventh week, our young artists are invited to share their work alongside established poets and writers in the  10th Annual Fort Greene Park Summer Literary Festival and to join us at Greenlight Bookstore for the after party.

The Lit Fest provides a means for self-expression and creativity for area young people while increasing the accessibility of the arts and literature for all — and we hope you and the young writers in your life will join us!

Workshops take place Saturdays @ 10:30-12:00 p.m. in Fort Greene Park. This year’s workshop dates are July 12, 19 & 26 and August 2, 9 & 16. Please plan to attend all six weeks.

Registration opens June 2 right here on NYWC’s website.
Parental consent and advance registration is required!

*PLEASE NOTE: Due to funding cuts this year, we are implementing a $25 non-refundable materials and operations fee. Your contribution covers the purchase of pens, pencils, notebooks, snacks, and other items used during the 6-week program, plus helps NYWC to adequately compensate the highly trained writing instructors you’ve come to love each year. We hope this does not hinder your participation, and we appreciate your understanding!
