The kids are back: Fort Greene Summer Literary Festival!

MEET THE WRITERS: (l to r) Tiphanie Yanique, Mahogany L. Browne & Morgan Parker

Fort Greene Summer Literary Festival

Presented by NY Writers Coalition, Akashic Books & Greenlight Bookstore

Saturday, August 22 @ 2:00 p.m.  /  BRIC House (647 Fulton Street)

Killer stoop sales, the Brooklyn Flea, and the saucy return of Habana Outpost are just a few Fort Greene staples in the summertime. But when it comes to a community tradition in this ever-changing neighborhood that readers and writers from all generations flock to, there’s very little that matches the power of NY Writers Coalition’s Fort Greene Summer Literary Festival.

Young writers from the NYWC summer youth workshops in Fort Greene Park will share powerful poetry and prose alongside some of the city’s most beloved writers: Poets Mahogany L. Browne (Dear Twitter: Love Letters Hashed Out On-line) and Morgan Parker (Other People’s Comfort Keeps Me Up at Night) and author Tiphanie Yanique (Land of Love and Drowning). Our Master of Ceremonies is writer Chris Prioleau.

This event is free and open to the public and takes place at BRIC House. (647 Fulton Street). An after-party will follow at 4:30 p.m. Meet the writers – plus, invite your friends and family!

The 11th annual Fort Greene Summer Literary Festival is presented by NY Writers Coalition, Akashic Books, and Greenlight Bookstore, with additional support from Con Edison and the office of City Council Member Laurie Cumbo.
