Through partnerships with local organizations, NY Writers Coalition provides weekly workshop opportunities for people from an array of backgrounds to experience the power of writing in community. In our 20+ year history, we have held workshops in hundreds of locations for court-involved/incarcerated people, people with disabilities, seniors, LGBTQ+ people, homeless and formerly homeless people, youth, and many others. two workshops in Manhattan for older adults at a center operated by The Educational Alliance
CIDNY (Virtual)
Center for Independence of the Disabled, Manhattan, which provides services for people with physical and mental disabilities
Creative Center (In-Person)
a workshop at an arts center in Manhattan for people living with cancer
Essential Workers (Virtual)
a virtual workshop for people designated as essential workers during the COVID-19 pandemic
North Star Academy
an after-school workshop at a middle-grade charter school in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn
Port Morris Wellness Center (In-Person)
a workshop in a community clinic for patients undergoing treatment for opiate abuse/dependence on methadone maintenance. This clinic is a South Bronx outpost of the Division of Substance Abuse of Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
